Active Nation Tuesday’s!

Our Tuesday evening Clayton Green Sports Centre classes have now finished for the summer. When they restart in September there is going to be a major structure change to those classes.

  1. The first change is that the 2nd class from 6:00 – 6:45pm will unfortunately no longer run due to the lack of numbers so far.
  2. Now that the 2nd class is cancelled, we are opening the 1st class to all ages from 6 – 15 years and extending the class length. The class will now run from 5:00 – 6:00pm.
  3. From September, this class will now run through the school holidays again (with the exception of the Christmas break)
  4. The pricing structure will also be changing to fall in line with our other classes to make the payments easier for you! The classes will be £8 per single class OR £24 per calendar month (to be paid on the first Tuesday of the month)

The relaunch of these classes will be on September 4th and we look forward to seeing you there! If you have any more question, please get in touch: info@projectzparkour.com

Easter Eggs

March/April Update

March was a fairly uneventful month for us. Classes 6 days a week and not a whole lot of training. So we decided to delay our updates until we had something more interesting to show you all. Then April came along and the madness started! Lots of training. New weekly jam in Bury. More Parkour Holiday Camps. And best of all, new videos released on our YouTube channel!

But before we go into all of that, let’s have a look at some of our classes in action from the last couple of months…

New Weekly Parkour Jam

We realise that with all of our classes so spread out it is quite difficult for some of you to get to more than 1 of our classes each week. We would love to be able to put more classes on but until we get more qualified coaches (or 9 days in a week) it is going to be a struggle.

In the mean time, Smithy has kindly invited you all to a weekly Parkour Jam on Wednesdays from 6:30pm at Burrs Country Park. We would like to express that this is not a coached class and that anyone attending should be able to do their own training unsupervised. Due to this not being a coached class, it is completely FREE!

May Parkour Holiday Camps

Due to the massive success of our Easter half term camps we have decided to host 2 more holiday camps over the May half term!

On Tuesday 29th May and Thursday 31st May our qualified parkour coaches, Tom and Isaac, will be offering a whole 5 hour day of parkour training open to all ages and abilities.

To find out more, check out our Facebook event:
May Parkour Holiday Club

Or contact:
info@projectzparkour.com

Homework Shoutouts

As a lot of you may have noticed, we post all of our Parkour Homework tasks on our Facebook Page (Project Z Parkour Training) every Monday evening.

Earlier this month we had a homework competition where we asked you to go and hold a cat hang off the lowest obstacle you could find. The lowest cat hang would win a free class!

Well, here’s your winner! (by half a brick – yes, we counted!)

Get in touch with info@projectzparkour.com to claim your free class!

Easter Weekend Parkour Jams

Over the easter bank holiday weekend, our team got together for a couple of Parkour Jams in Manchester and Bury. Tom finally got his act together and managed to edit the footage from the days into 2 new videos for our YouTube channel. Check them out!

Performance Work

On top of our own new video releases, both Smithy and Tom have been busy recently doing their thing for a couple of music videos that were released over the last 2 months. Okay, the one featuring Tom is a little bit like a “Where’s Waldo” book trying to figure out where he is but the one featuring Smithy is damn cool!

New Lesson Plans

Some of you may know that Tom plans his lessons in 2 month blocks based around certain themes/aspects of parkour training. A lot of the time the theme is based around certain types of movement (like jumping or vaulting etc) Due to the standard of skill and understand in our current pupil’s at our Oxygen Freejumping classes, he has had to up his game and start to think a little outside the box!

Over the next 2 months our Oxygen freejumping classes will have lessons based on the following themes:

  • Self Achievement – Setting our own targets and learning how to break them down to achieve our goals
  • Over-Coming Fears – Learning how to train our mind to acknowledge fear while training and exploring ways we can prepare ourselves to over come these fears
  • Leading/Coaching Experience – Exploring ways of using our experience to support other practitioners in achieving their goals

Needless to say, we are excited to see how you all take on these new challenges!

Based on the feedback from you all, the new payment methods outlined in the email from Active Naton did not come accross clearly.

There are now 3 payment options: weekly, termly and yearly. The weekly class price will remain at £8 per class. The term price will vary depending on the number of weeks in the term (no of weeks x £5) The yearly price is £205 from start of April 2018 to end of March 2019 for those who want to pay for the year up front. Burrs Country Park Announcement

First of all, we would like to thank all of our regular members for their continuing commitment to these classes despite the varying weather conditions! Our team loves coaching such a dedicated group and you are all improving rapidly at the minute. Keep it up, summer is coming!

Just a note to all parents: Our team have got another class set up over in Leigh for after the Burrs classes on Sundays from now on. Please ensure that you are on time to pick up your children each week so that we can make it over to our other classes on time. Thankyou 🙂

Parkour for Schools

The Project Z Parkour team are now doing more work with schools and educational establishments than ever. We have 2 regular after school clubs at Accrington Academy and Saddleworth High School each week and we have also just set up 2 before school clubs for the coming term over at Blackrod Church School.

If you, or anyone you know, works in a school/educational establishment that may be interesting in offering parkour classes to their pupil’s, get them to get in touch with Tom on info@projectzparkour.com or tell them to have a look at our parkour in education page.

Classes This Month

This month we seemed to only get pictures from our Burrs and Cloud classes (next month we will do better!) But here’s a little insight into what we get up to in our Manchester based parkour classes. Everything from silly warm up games, to teamwork and fear facing exercises… And a conditioning exercise we like to call “the human centipede”:

We would also like to make a special shoutout to Phil for being the only person to actually tag Project Z Parkour Training in his homework attempts from this month with his home made balancing bar set up! We know more of you are doing your homework so get tagging.

Youtube

Remember to keep watching out for our Youtube updates as we try to post regular content over there with a bit more of our training than you can find on our Facebook and Instagram feeds.

Check out the video from our team trip to Sheffield:

And have a look at Tom’s solo training session from the start of the month!

Instagram

Our mass instagram upload may be done of the spare clips from last year but the team are training more regularly and harder than ever so make sure you follow our Instagram page for daily content!

Questions/Feedback:

New Year, New Us

Welcome to 2018

So we realise that we’re a little late behind here, with it being the start of February, but we were very busy last month getting everything back up and running again after a few weeks off over christmas. Here we have our January update for you all with some important announcements to make!

New Year, New Website

As some of you may have noticed, our website has been a “little” out of date for months now and we would like to apologise for the delay in getting it sorted. Tom has been working tirelessly these last couple of months to put together this shiny, brand new website for you all to browse through!

Our class timetable is back up to date with all of our current classes, prices and locations and you should definitely go and check that out!

We have also added pages with information about parkour as sport and the many benefits of taking part. If you have any family, friends, enemies or pets that haven’t tried parkour yet, get them to have a look through our page: what is parkour?

New Classes

All of our new classes for 2018 that have already started up are listed on our class timetable page. However, we do have some more classes lined up to begin from 26th February in Glossop and will be taking over our Monday nights with brand new equipment!

These classes booked up within a couple of hours of annoncement but keep you eyes on our Facebook Page Project Z Parkour Training for updates on places that may become available.

New Qualified Coaches

Last October Smithy and Isaac went on a quest to Leeds and were told not to return until they had completed their level 1 parkour coaching course with Parkour UK. They both came back having passed with flying colours and now, after doing some supervised coaching hours with Tom, they have both received their certificates and are ready to take a more active role in coaching classes with Project Z Parkour. We would also like to give a shout out and congratulations to one of our pupils (Ben) who went and aced the course along with Smithy and Isaac. Ben just has another couple of hours of supervised coaching to do before he receives his certificate but that isn’t going to take him long! Well done lads!

New Pricing at Burrs Country Park

We have made the official announcement on Facebook already but we would like to remind everyone that attends our parkour classes at Burrs Country Park on Sundays 1pm – 2pm that the pricing for these classes are set to change as of 1st February 2018. Now that Smithy and Isaac have received their coaching qualifications we can no longer get away with using them for free labour.

The single class price will be changing to £8 per class. We will also be introducing a monthly price of £20 per calender month for those regulars who are looking to save some money. The price change is to cover the wages of 3 qualified coaches running the classes. This is the only class we offer at this time that has 3 coaches available every week to offer our pupils as much support as they need, and it really shows in the progress made by all who attend!

See you all on Sunday!

See What Our Team Gets Up To!

Away from our weekly classes, our team of coaches and athletes are constantly training to improve their own parkour skills. Check out our various social media platforms to keep up to date with what our team gets up to in their spare time!

Youtube

Our Youtube channel was pretty inactive for most of last year, but towards the end our team got their act together and started releasing more quality content for our channel.

Check out Tom’s 2017 Showreel of all his favourite moments from the last year!

Also, check out Smithy’s “This Is Life” vlog series to see what an average day training with the team looks like!

Instagram

Similar to our Youtube channel, we were pretty lazy with our instagram game last year. After a huge hard drive clean out, we found over 100 unused instagram edits so we’re uploading 3 new posts per day until the content runs out (while still filming everything we do) so get yourselves over the our instagram page to see what we’ve been hiding from you all of last year!
